Inkreader

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 27 March 2026  |  Last Updated: 27 March 2026

Thank you for using Inkreader. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Inkreader handles information when you use our app.

Inkreader itself does not collect, store, or share any personal data. To use the app, you must connect one of the supported cloud storage services — Google Drive, Dropbox, or a WebDAV server — to store and access your books. When you do, that service operates under its own privacy policy, which governs any data held there. We encourage you to review the applicable policy before connecting your account.

1. No Data Collection by Inkreader

Inkreader does not collect, transmit, store, or process any personal information or usage data. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Personal identifiers: name, email address, phone number, device ID, or IP address

  • Reading activity: books opened, pages read, reading duration, or highlights

  • Usage analytics: app opens, feature interactions, crash logs, or performance data

  • Device information: hardware model, operating system version, or settings

  • Location data: GPS, approximate location, or region

  • Financial information: payment details or purchase history (handled entirely by the App Store/Google Play)

2. No Third-Party Tracking

Inkreader does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising networks, tracking SDKs, or crash reporting services. No third party receives any information about your use of the app.

3. Cloud Storage — How It Works

Inkreader requires you to connect one of the following cloud storage services to store and access your books and reading content:

  • Google Drive (Google LLC)

  • Dropbox (Dropbox, Inc.)

  • WebDAV (a server of your own choosing)

Inkreader acts as a reader and file manager for content held in your chosen storage. All of your books, bookmarks, notes, and reading preferences live in your cloud storage account — not on our servers.

3.1 How Inkreader Accesses Your Storage

  • Authorised by you: Inkreader accesses your cloud storage only after you explicitly grant permission through the official authentication flow of the relevant service (or, for WebDAV, by providing your own server credentials).

  • Minimum access only: Inkreader reads and writes files solely to provide the functionality you have requested, such as loading or saving a book.

  • We do not store your credentials: Your Google or Dropbox login details are handled directly by those services via secure OAuth. For WebDAV, any credentials you enter are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted to us.

3.2 Third-Party Privacy Policies

When you use Google Drive or Dropbox, your data is subject to their respective privacy policies. Please review these before connecting your account:

Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Dropbox Privacy Policy: https://www.dropbox.com/privacy

For WebDAV, the privacy and security of your data is governed by the operator of the server you connect to. If you run your own WebDAV server, you are solely responsible for that data. If you use a third-party WebDAV host, please review their privacy policy.

Inkreader is not responsible for the privacy practices of Google Drive, Dropbox, or any WebDAV server you choose to connect.

4. App Store Purchases

If Inkreader offers in-app purchases, all transactions are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not have access to your payment information, purchase history, or billing details. Please refer to Apple’s or Google’s privacy policies for information about how they handle your data.

5. Children’s Privacy

Inkreader does not collect any data of its own. However, because cloud storage is required to use the app, parents and guardians should be aware that connecting a Google Drive or Dropbox account for a child is subject to the age requirements and terms of those services. WebDAV servers operated by a parent or guardian may be a suitable alternative for younger users.

6. Internet Access

Inkreader uses an internet connection solely for the following purposes:

  • Cloud storage access: To read and write files in your connected Google Drive, Dropbox, or WebDAV account.

  • Authentication: To complete the secure sign-in flow for Google or Dropbox when you first connect your account.

We do not use any network connection to report data about you or your activity to our servers.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we ever change how Inkreader handles data, we will update this Privacy Policy and revise the ‘Last Updated’ date at the top. Any material changes will be communicated through the App Store update notes.

We will never introduce data collection practices without clearly disclosing them in an updated version of this policy.

8. Your Rights

Because Inkreader collects no data of its own, there is nothing for us to access, correct, delete, or export on your behalf. You retain full ownership and control of all content in your cloud storage. For any data held by Google Drive or Dropbox, please refer to their respective privacy policies and account management tools. For WebDAV, contact your server operator.
